Bored to death? Well, if you’re a fan of sci-fi movies, then Rebecca Drysdale’s roll-over-the-floor Internet comedy series “Time Traveling Lesbian” may be just what you need. Lesbiatopia describes it as “Quantum Leap meets the L-Word”. Now that’s cool, because I’m a fan of both shows. In RDTTL, Becky must save the world from Leaks, Agent Smith look-alikes who uses time travel to change the course of history. Of course, she gets into a few romantic entanglements along the way. Time Traveling Lesbian is currently into it’s 8th episode. If you’re wondering why the show seems polished for an Internet video, it’s because it was produced by HBO, who is trying to catch up with Youtube. The videos are hosted at Funny or Die.

New York Magazine’s Amy Sohn calls Drysdale, “… a genius. Smart, inventive and totally original.” Her critically acclaimed stage work “One Woman in Several Pieces” and other projects earned her a spot in Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch”. Ellen may have an heir apparent.

It was not an easy start, however. But Drysdale was so determined to make it that she sold T-shirts and washed dishes before nabbing her chance to go on stage. ‘It all happened so gradually, and then one day you turn around and think, “wow, this is my job; I did it.” It’s like getting fat and not realizing it’s happening then one day you’re not able to fit into your clothes. Which also happened in Chicago.’ Drysdale went to Second City in Chicago. Since 1959, Second City has served as a breeding ground for comics learning their craft and specializing in improvisation. Among the alumni are Joan Rivers, Bill Murray and Mike Myers.
