Dani Campbell, lesbiandom’s favorite firefighter, is branching out next year with the launch of her very own fashion brand called Futch. That’s the term she popularized after describing herself as not really butch, not really femme, but somewhere in the middle. Dani is on the final two of MTV’s surprise breakaway hit “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila”.

For those of you who are clueless, the show is basically a dating game with a queer twist, being the first to pit both genders for the love of a bisexual woman. Tila Tequila, famous MySpace citizen and model, must pick one person out of a pool of 16 guys and 16 girls. The host, the format, and the over-the-top challenges earned a lot of criticism, but fans of the show multiplied as the show progressed. It’s now MTV’s second top series, just behind “The Hills”.

Dani’s fans, in particular, have swelled. Her appeal almost single-handedly attracted the lesbian demographic. On MySpace, her friends have risen from just a few to over 47,000 and still growing. Many credit Dani’s rise to stardom to her positive attitude, down-to-earth sincerity, and of course, that fit firefighter body and cute dimpled smile. She certainly has a ready market for her clothing line.

So before all of this new found fame, I always had a dream of starting a clothing company. My idea was to design clothing made for girls/women who like to wear more aggressive (if you will) cut/styled shirts, jeans, jackets, belts, etc.. Personally, I find myself shopping in the men’s sections trying to find stuff that fits good….always a mission. I thought to myself, “Self, why don’t you create a clothing line that caters to women like me??!!” So here I go.

My new clothing line will be called “Futch”. I hope to provide a new style to women who like clothing like I described above that actually fits nice. This isn’t a cheap, sell-out jump at a money making opportunity. This is a dream I’ve had for a while now and I hope to change the lives of women everywhere that want to feel good with what they wear. I hope to have it running by the new year, so bear with me.
