Ashley Dupre: A wild life in the spotlight
I thought I would never touch Eliot Spitzer’s fall from grace, but hearing a stranger named Robert Anton changed my mind. I’ve included his video commentary below. In it, he basically called on Ashley Alexandra Dupre to look at what’s happening now in a positive light. Turn it around, so to speak.
It’s embarrassing having your face splashed all over the tabloids, but like Monica Lewinsky before her (and that was 10x bigger), this too shall pass. People will eventually move on to the next big scandal, and when that gets old there will be another one to replace it. Robert said she should make the most out of her newfound fame while it’s there. She made at least two R&B recordings which have gotten airplay on the radio. Her songs have so far earned her over $200,000 from paid downloads. Not bad for a start. I heard other projects are lined up for her as well.
Some people will think what she’s doing is opportunistic, but what if it is? She has to look out for herself, because if she doesn’t, who will? Both Spitzer and Dupre were consenting adults. I don’t consider anyone of them to be victims in this case, but I’m not out to judge them either. Everybody’s done something stupid in their lives. The difference is this one landed on the front page of every major newspaper. We’re lucky there isn’t enough space to accommodate all of our collective indiscretions (although the Internet is turning out to be an unwelcome solution).
In her MySpace profile she professed her love for music, so I’m glad she’s earning an honest living this way. We’ll see if her talent carries her fame beyond this scandal. At 22, there’s so much ahead of her. I hope she learns and makes the most of whatever lies ahead.

An entertaining video made by a “fan” on Youtube. This will have to do while we wait for the official MTV, if such a thing will materialize.
