Tegan and Sara Quin are young and out rockers from Alberta, Canada. They’re twins of identical features and, yes, identical sexuality. Twin lesbian sisters? Now that doesn’t happen everyday.

They grew up in a family that Sara says taught them to be “open-minded, strong, and empowered.” The open-mindedness, Tegan says, made it a lot easier for the lesbian sisters to come out. Their realizations, however, did not happen at the same time. Sara came out first, then Tegan. “Our mom said, `Couldn’t you both have come out at the same time?’” Tegan recalls, “She handled it with a lot of humor. She’s always been supportive.” Cool mom, eh?
