SYTYCD: Demi Sorono inches closer to the top

Out Fil-Australian B-girl Demi Sorono is still living it up as she dances her way to the Top 6 of SYTYCD Australia. The other girls remaining are Kate and Vanessa, while the boys are Graeme, Jack and Rhys. Demi has never been at the Bottom Three, which is a testament to how much the fans (and judges) love her. At this point, she’s the only untrained dancer left in the competition - ever more reason for her family to be proud she made it this far. But hey, don’t stop there, get all the way to the top, girl!

Demi’s answers to fan questions from her blog:

If you could fall for a guy, who would it be? I would turn straight for Rhys, and I know for fact that Rhys would turn straight for me. I love a man that has an appreciation for fashion.

Your dream dance partner in the competition? If I could dance with anyone in the Top 20: I’d love to do a Jazz routine with Kate.

    SYTYCD - Demi and Jack bring the house down!

    OK, sign me up. I’m officially a fan! Demi Sorono and Jack Chambers wowed practically everyone with their dance moves in SYTYCD Australia (So You Think You Can Dance). The judges, in particular, couldn’t stop themselves from lavishing the pair with praises.

    I especially liked seeing the transformation of Demi, an out lesbian, in Week 2 when they danced the samba - in high heels, shiny outfit, full make up and nail polish. Just a week ago it seemed unthinkable! To Jack’s credit, it was nice to hear that he didn’t seem to particularly care about being “macho” (hate that word!), but can still turn up the heat when needed. Amazing that they pulled it off, having little to no background on this style. Here are the videos of Demi and Jack’s performance for the past two week of competition. I dig the accent. Enjoy!

      Demi Sorono in So you think you can dance?

      Great news! Filipino-Australian Demi Sorono has made it to the Top 100 of talent search So You Think You Can Dance Australia. What’s that got to do with AboutWomyn? Well, besides the fact that I’m a Filipino myself, Demi is an out lesbian who tried her luck at the contest with girlfriend Nikki Ashby. Demi got in but Nikki didn’t make the cut. However, it seems Nikki tried a second time at another event and got the thumbs up. Congratulations to both!

      In addition to the pair, Demi’s siblings Lorraine and Carlo also went to audition. The judges commended Lorraine on that fact that despite the fact she is deaf, she was able to dance on the beat, but it wasn’t enough to take her through. A playful Carlo had more luck scoring a ticket to Sydney, where the next round is going to be held. That old saying about singing and dancing being part of Filipino blood must be true, eh?
